I am really looking forward to riding this set up for a full year while guiding with RPM90 and I will also be racing it at Badlands 2020 in Spain
Tell us about your bike/build:
My Super Green Steel Machine. Descending mountain trails, crossing farmed plateaus and working your way uphill through a forest on rooty single track whilst pedalling a fully laden bike is never going to be effortless, but for me the Mason ISO is a game changer in this genre of bikes. It’s also super comfy for long days in the saddle thanks to the geometry, the GRX Di2 and the Ritchey Venturemax bars.
Riding 2.4” Tyres on 29er wheels was something that I was a little concerned about, particularly as our first outing together was a long multi-day group trip to Slovakia. It turned out to be a great choice and with no discernible loss of speed even when riding in a mixed group. The fun to be had on the mountain forest and gravel sections was immense. The ride gave me buckets full of confidence, even when descending technical sections – I was playing with the terrain, popping over rocks and railing the banked corners – all the while with around 10kgs of kit strapped to you bike. Steel is real.
