This September will see the launch of a new gravel riding event in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, which perfectly combines great riding, great scenery and great craft beer. Sounds like a match made in heaven? 

The Craft Beer Trail is a 230km long bikepacking route which will include 4300m of climbing and descending and take in some of the finest trails in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. This unsupported event is given a unique twist as it is based around four craft breweries, which the organisers have called Beer Points. 

The Craft Beer Trail will take place on 23 and 24 September 2023, starting from the coastal resort of Riccione on the Riviera Romagnola and touching various areas, both coastal and inland, of Emilia Romagna, Marche and the Republic of San Marino along the way.

The organisers say “The beers will be the well-deserved reward for every kilometer of effort and will provide you with the maltodextrins needed to conclude the adventure in the best possible way.” They add “The distance and the altitude difference shouldn't scare you because you will be continually distracted by the beauty of the villages, glimpses and landscapes that surround you.”

The event which is open to gravel riders, MTB riders and e-MTB riders is going to be limited to a maximum of 200 participants and promises “breathtaking landscapes, good company and craft beer will be the perfect recipe for your Craft Beer Trail.”

• Total Length - 230 KM From the coolest cities of the Riviera with their long golden beaches to small medieval villages. From the sea to the mountains. From Valmarecchia to Valconca, encroaching on the Republic of San Marino
• Total height difference - 4000 m D+ From the sea to the mountains and then back to the sea. A continuous "eat and drink" that will create a pleasant burning in the legs.
• CHEERS. You will not only find the classic refreshment, but also craft breweries in our area. After all, maltodextrins are important for better managing prolonged effort!
