News – "Ladies first" gravel race in Bern

The organisers of the Allianz Gravel Ride and Race Bern got in touch to let us know about a competition they are running as they would like to attract more women riders to sign up and take part in their event.

“Since 2018, the Allianz Gravel Ride & Race has been the largest Swiss gravel event and has enjoyed even greater popularity every year. While the number of participants is increasing, the proportion of women remains at a consistently low level. Together with Emma Pooley, Sara Bukies and Nathalie Schneitter we want to change that. “

Last year the proportion of women in the race (50 km) was 9%. At the ride (25 km) the proportion of women riders was 29%. As organisers, we are convinced that a gravel event like the Allianz Gravel Ride & Race Bern should attract many more women. That's why we're giving away two starting places each with the following three gravel lovers:

Emma Pooley (Ride 25 km) is a former Time Trial World Champion and Olympic silver medallist. Today she loves adventure, on a gravel bike or trail running.

Sara Bukies (Ride 25 km) loves discovering the world on a gravel bike. In the Bern region, she initiates gravel rides and adventures only for women via "GravELLE".

Nathalie Schneitter (Race 50 km) is a former top mountain biker and was the first e-MTB world champion in history in 2019. Nathalie experiences her best cycling moments when traveling with the gravel bike.

Do you want to do the gravel ride or the gravel race with Emma, Sara or Nathalie? Then take part in our competition. “

The competition lasts until Monday, October 17, 2022 and you can enter here
