In the world of bike photography, there are a set of "rules" that are normally followed when taking a static bike shot - the bike should be driveside towards the camera, cranks should be set to the 9am-3pm (or sometimes 10am-4pm) orientation, the chain should be in the big chainring at the front, the tyres should be fitted to align the logos with the valves and then the wheels rotated so that they either at 12pm or 6pm position and the bike should either be shot against a contrasting background or with the background blurred out.
But then who cares about rules! Surely the most important thing is does the finished image inspire you, or motivate you to go out and ride?
This image, taken by über snapper Markel Bazan, of Shimano Gravel Alliance rider Ibai Fradeja's Orbea Terra doesn't really follow the rules, but succeeds 100% in making us want to head out on a gravel bike ride.
