News - Second komoot Women’s Arizona Rally launched

November 2024 will see a group of 75 women gravel riders heading to Tucson, Arizona to join Lael Wilcox for the second komoot Women's Arizona Rally. Held over a week and featuring a 600 km route created by Lael based on her "favourite trails and roads". To find out more and to apply to take part, read on.....

komoot's Women's Rallies are designed to "connect, unite, and break down the barriers in adventure cycling by making adventures by bike more accessible to women and all that identify as women of all backgrounds." Their Arizona 2024 event starts and finishes in Tucson and the route will cover 600km, taking in 7500m of climbing along the way. The route is described as being "wild and remote" in places and will include a 32 km long ascent of Mount Lemmon.

komoot are keen to emphasise that the event "is not a race — participants can ride at their own pace, make friends, help each other, share meals, campsites and take shortcuts" and they go on to say that "These Rallies are often special because of the time riders get to spend together." During the trip, participants will be camping out and Lael explains "The desert is dry and this is a dark sky area— the best for sleeping under the stars."

The komoot Women's Arizona Rally 2024 is limited to around 75 participants "to keep an intimate feeling and ensure that small local towns and communities are not overstressed during the events." The event is "aimed at women and all that identify as women living in North America."

Applications are now open and will close on 11th August. Successful applicants will be told by email on 15th August.
