Ride Report - RHS-RBX 2022

Since it was snowing heavily on the original date, April 2nd, with temperatures forecast to be around 0 degrees, the event was postponed to April 17th at short notice. So, the gravel adventure started one day before its big brother - Paris-Roubaix - and the weather was also ideal.

MTB legend Karl Platt was also at the start. The serial winner of the notorious MTB stage race “Cape Epic” used the RHS-RBX event as a training ride, just three weeks after his victory in South Africa in the masters category.

After the start, the gravel bikers enjoyed a fast, flat passage along a gravel cycle path on a former railway.

Then it was very demanding riding through the vineyards. The Rhine River was always in view and the skyline of Frankfurt could be seen in the background.

A coffee break was taken in the small, historic town of Nierstein before heading onto the notorious cobblestone sections near Mainz.

After that, the track changed direction and now came the wind from behind almost to the finish.

After more than 140 demanding kilometers and almost 1,800m of climbing, all participants agreed that they didn't have to be a professional rider to have fun on the cobblestones!
