News – Explore La Palma with Gravel Ground 2025

La Palma, known as the “Isla Bonita” (the beautiful island), is the most northwesterly of all the Canary Islands. This volcanic island is famous for it’s rugged scenery, laurisilva cloud forests and more recently, for its gravel riding too. If you fancy exploring this amazing place on two wheels, then read on to find out more about Gravel Ground, a four stage gravel event being held on the island at the end of October. Read on to find out more.

With a combined total of 270 km and 8680 m of elevation gain, the 2025 Gravel Ground event should offer plenty enough challenge to enthusiastic gravel riders to make the journey to La Palma worthwhile. The four stages, Stars Ride, Jungle Ride, Banana Ride and Volcano Ride promise a wide variety in scenery, terrain and riding.

“Gravel Ground is for those who believe that the best way to explore the world is on two wheels.”

The entry fee into the event (€845) includes two nights of accommodation in a 4* hotel at the start/finish, plus three nights of camping, all meals, feed stops during the stages, medical/mechanical/security assistance during the event, luggage transfer between stages and a welcome pack. All you need to do is to get yourself and your bike to the island.

The organisers describe Gravel Ground as “much more than a route: it is an experience designed for gravel cycling lovers who seek to get lost (and find themselves) pedalling through unique environments, such as the spectacular island of La Palma. With landscapes that change with each pedal ride (laurel forests, volcanic paths, cliffs overlooking the Atlantic), this trip is a total immersion in nature and freedom.
