There are times when you read a press release about a new product and wonder whether something got lost in translation. The strapline for Scott’s new Contessa Signature range of bikes for example is “Women are Water”. That might make perfect sense for a range of swimwear, but we weren’t initially sure it translated into a bike launch?! Luckily, Scott explained their thinking for the strapline (and the water-based imagery) and suddenly it all made sense:

“The theme of water grew out of the inspiration that women are like water. They can be calm and soothing, a base for all of life. In parallel, water’s strength, much like that of a woman, is often underestimated. Leave it be and with persistence and patience, it’s capable to carve out a mountain of rock. No matter how small a drop of water is, its energy causes a ripple effect. “

Scott describes their Contessa Signature collection as “a showcase of products for those serious about both the performance and pure design of their bike and equipment” and are at pains to point out that this collection is “uniquely designed by and for women”. Their new range includes a total of six bikes covering mountain, road, e-bikes and most importantly for us, gravel. 

The Contessa Addict Gravel 15 comes specced with a Shimano GRX810 2x11 groupset, 45mm width tyres for extra cushioning/grip and integrated/internally routed cabling which looks super clean. There’s no word from Scott about how waterproof their new Contessa Addict bike is, but we probably wouldn’t recommend parking it in a freshwater lake, no matter how inviting it looks....
